I really wanted to like the BEACN Mix Create. Everything I saw made it look like the answer to all my streaming audio problems. Creators I follow were calling it the new GoXLR killer, talking about how clean and simple it was, how it would finally let me ditch all the extra software. My community even helped me buy it, so I went in with high hopes. Man, was that a mistake.
This thing is a massive disappointment.
Without buying their overpriced BEACN mic or the full Studio setup, the Mix Create is nothing more than a fancy-looking Voicemeeter Junior with a touchscreen. And honestly? It’s a worse Voicemeeter in almost every way that actually matters.
In Voicemeeter Banana or Potato I had complete control. I could put every single application on its own channel — game audio, Discord, Spotify, browser alerts, OBS sources, system sounds, everything. I could EQ each one individually, slap a noise gate on whatever needed it, compress, limit, and route them to completely different places with multiple buses. It was flexible as hell and it was free.
BEACN? Nowhere near that level. You can drag apps onto knobs, sure. You get a routing table where you check boxes for Personal Mix, Audience Mix, or Voice Chat Mic. But that’s basically where the control ends. You can’t get truly granular separation like Voicemeeter. You end up lumping multiple things onto the same knob whether you want to or not. There’s no real per-channel processing, no deep bus routing, and zero built-in effects unless you spend even more money on their hardware. It feels like they took Voicemeeter, dumbed it down, slapped a pretty interface on it, and charged you $300+ for the privilege.
And don’t get me started on the technical issues. The app constantly gets stuck at 92% when loading. Game audio from my second PC randomly stops showing up even when Windows clearly sees the signal. Inputs disappear for no reason. I’ve spent more time troubleshooting this thing than actually using it. After days of fighting with it, I’m right back where I started — still having to use VB-Cable, VST plugins, and extra workarounds just to make my Tonor mic sound decent.
What really pisses me off is how misleading the marketing is. They push this hard as a one-stop shop for small streamers and creators. Meanwhile, if you already own a decent mic like most people do, you’re getting ripped off. It feels straight-up predatory. They know the majority of their customers are regular people who can’t afford to keep dropping hundreds more just to unlock basic audio processing that should have been included from the start.
I feel stupid for falling for the hype. I trusted creators I looked up to, and now I’m out a bunch of money with a product that made my setup more complicated, not less.
If you’re a small creator on a budget, do yourself a huge favor and skip this entirely. Go find a used Korg nanoKONTROL2 for thirty or forty bucks and stick with Voicemeeter Potato or Banana. You’ll get way better audio separation, actual processing on every channel, and none of the ecosystem lock-in or buggy software nonsense.
Final Verdict: 3 out of 10.
It looks and feels premium sitting on your desk, but it’s all show with very little go. Save your money.
Lesson learned the expensive way. I won’t be falling for this kind of hype again.
